All of our mattresses provide excellent support. One should therefore be careful
not to choose the firmest in the belief that it will be better for your posture.
Always choose the one that feels most comfortable.
- All provide lasting comfort and the natural fillings are more durable than most,
but regardless of which is chosen, none will remain in the same condition forever.
Lighter people obviously cause less wear.
- If body weight is a factor, mattresses with firmer springs and deeper fillings should
be considered.
- Our top of the range ‘Luxury’ and ‘Pocket’ mattresses stay in prime condition longest.
- One’s requirements may change in time, even if the mattress is still in good condition.
- Our 10 Year Guarantee is against faulty workmanship and materials, but if looked
after they may last considerably longer. (See caring for your mattress)
They should remain in a serviceable condition for at least 10 years with reasonable
care, providing they are well ventilated, never folded, and turned regularly. Lighter
occupants usually benefit from the longest use.
Many returning customers tell us they have enjoyed 20 years and more of very satisfactoty
use. Nonetheless, after experiencing the luxury of a new one, they may wish they
had returned a little earlier.
- Parents frequently choose our Yorkton mattresses. There are two firmnesses: ‘Ortho’
(medium) and ‘Super Ortho’ (firm). Both types are durable and comfortable.
- The ‘Super Ortho’ is a popular choice. Many consider that a firmer mattress is preferable,
and when very young they are too light to feel the difference. Thicker springs are
also more durable if jumped or played upon. Older children generally make their own
choices.
- Children's mattresses can usually be passed down. Single use and lighter body weight
results in less wear.
- 3’0” x 6’3” (92 x 190) is the most popular and standard single. 2’6” x 6’3” (76 x
190) and 3’6” x 6’3” (107 x 190) are less common. 4’0” (122 cm) is the smallest double.
- For taller children or for those with limited bedroom space we provide non standard
sizes quickly and economically. Open coil mattresses are modified in increments of
3" (7.5 cm). Pocket sprung mattresses can be made to any size.
(see modifications).
WEAR LIGHTWEIGHT, LOOSE CLOTHING. Remove bulky outerwear. Shoes may be left on if
preferred.
TRY TO RELAX. Vary your position. Lie on your side for an indication of firmness.
TAKE YOUR TIME. Pay special attention to the support given to the lower back, shoulders
and hips.
ALLOW YOUR BODY TO GUIDE YOU rather than preconceptions.
You can't judge a book by its cover - and the same goes for a mattress !
