The beds can therefore be assembled and dismantled time and again with total confidence. If movement or creaking develops, gentle tightening of the bolts will restore rigidity. Moreover these hidden fixings do not spoil the appearance of the bed.
Constructed with mortise and tenon joints**, and not dependent upon ironmongery which cannot be repaired or replaced if lost or damaged. The joints are reinforced with bolts which are universally available, not screws, because when screws work loose, they cannot be re tightened.

Virtually indestructible webbed and pre spaced slats* allow the mattress to ‘breathe’, and are selected from 1” x 6” (25 x 150 mm) stress graded timber - far more reliable than thinner plywood 'sprung' slats which are prone to invert or break - and which are found on many imported beds.
A strong centre beam*** prevents the occupants from sinking into the middle of a sagging base, and stops disturbing slat movement caused by a restless partner. This is essential on wider beds as it ensures a flat, stable support for both the mattress and its occupants.
Wooden beds are usually thrown away because they have become unstable.
People now accept this as the norm...

“When looking for a well constructed bed, grab one corner and shake it with all your might. Needless to say the slatted beds made here budge not a jot and come with a lifetime structural guarantee”
Ease of assembly
Assembling a bed can be a time consuming task. All are designed for ease of construction. An assembly kit and full instructions are provided.
The delivery drivers will build your bed if required. For most they charge £10. Pre booking and nearby parking is essential.
Responsible use of resources
We are committed to making durable furniture, thus helping to eliminate unnecessary waste.
The Baltic Pine from Scandinavia and Russia, and the prime White Oak from North America are fully sustained and managed timbers.
Choosing locally produced furniture reduces one’s carbon footprint.
Mobility
Dismantled, they store away easily, and can be transported in most cars. They will fit into lifts and taken to places where access is difficult. When reconstructed they will be as strong as ever!
Exceptions: Damage caused by undue care, misuse or accident;
non structural, natural characteristics of timber (i.e. minor fissures and movement caused
by heat and moisture); all surface finishes; mattress handles. All items considered eligible for repair
or replacement must be returned to our workshops for inspection.
Please note: All sizes are approximate and may vary slightly. Cancelled orders will be subject to a charge.
We reserve the right to alter prices and specifications without notice. Prices include VAT, but not delivery.
Your statutory rights are not affected. If unsure, please call or email us.
Unique features (see above).
**Custom, Sleigh and ‘Platform type’ beds have an equally strong but alternative bolted construction. *2 extra slats are supplied with our pocket spring mattresses. These are not webbed. *‘Platform’ bed slats are not pre spaced or webbed and each slat must be screwed down. *** ‘Platform type’ beds under 5’6” (167 cm) wide do not require a centre beam because the slats overhang the frame. Beds which are 4’0” (122 cm) and narrower do not have a centre beam.
A STABLE BASE (and a good mattress) SHOULD ALWAYS BE THE FIRST PRIORITY.
You cannot see the bed when you are in it, and no matter how stylish it looks, if it doesn't stay solid, it is a poor choice. Due to their size, most wooden beds must be assembled in the home and are inherently less stable than traditional furniture when the joints are permanently fixed before leaving the workshop.
What happens when these joints work loose?
As they get older they become less stable. Most makers do not address this problem, and unless you have been provided with a failsafe means of re tightening them, there is very little anyone can do.
Although they may look similar, there are substantial differences.
Beds appearing equally strong, and which look great in advertisements and showrooms are probably not designed to last much more than 10 years. The key structural features are hidden beneath the mattress, and these are what we concentrate on. Instability and creaks are not normally covered by a maker’s guarantee.
OUR STRUCTURAL GUARANTEE has been in place and honoured for over 21 years.
