Ease of Assembly
Due to their size, wooden beds are usually assembled on site. This can be a time consuming, confusing task.
Litvinoff & Fawcett beds are designed to be constructed easily, avoiding unnecessary work. An assembly kit and full instructions are provided.
The London delivery drivers will build your bed if required. Most cost £10 to assemble (payable directly to the delivery service).
Mobility
Dismantled, they store away easily, and can be transported in most cars. They will fit into lifts and can be assembled in places with restricted access.
**Custom, Sleigh and ‘Platform type’ beds have an equally strong, alternative bolted construction.
*2 extra slats are supplied with our pocket spring mattresses. These are not webbed.
*‘Platform ’ bed slats are not webbed and must be fixed down.
*** ‘Platform type’ beds under 5’6 wide do not require a centre beam because the slats overhang the frame.

Double bolted mortise and tenon joints** Unique to our beds, they ensure lasting stability. They do not irreparably work loose, unlike joints that rely on screws, and are far superior to ‘knock down’ ironmongery which cannot be repaired or replaced.
Easily dismantled and re-assembled - time and again without weakening. If the joints ever work loose, gently tightening the bolts restores rigidity. These exclusive and unseen fixings do not spoil the appearance of the bed.
Nine virtually unbreakable pre spaced slats* support the mattress and allow it to ‘breathe’. Selected from a structural grade 1 x 6 inch (25 x 150 mm) pine - they are stronger than 'sprung' slats which are prone to invert or break.
A strong centre beam*** eliminates the transfer of movement from one side to the other, and the tendency for the occupants to ‘sink’ into the centre. Essential on double beds, it prevents ‘sag’ in the slats and prolongs the life of the mattress.
