Bed and Mattress Makers since 1979

“When looking for a well constructed bed, grab one corner and shake it with all your might. Needless to say the slatted beds made here budge not a jot and come with a lifetime structural guarantee”

Features that make all the difference.
**Custom, Sleigh and ‘Platform type’ beds have an equally strong but alternative method of construction. *2 extra slats are supplied with our pocket spring mattresses. These are not webbed. *‘Platform’ bed slats are not pre spaced or webbed and each slat must be screwed down. *** ‘Platform type’ beds under 5’6” (167 cm) wide do not require a centre beam because the slats overhang the frame. Beds which are 4’0” (122 cm) and narrower do not have a centre beam.
GUARANTEE EXCLUSIONS: Damage caused by poor care, misuse or accident;
non structural, natural characteristics of timber (i.e. minor fissures and movement caused

Ease of assembly. The construction of self assembly furniture can be time consuming and tiresome (e.g. Ikea). We have designed our beds for ease of construction and eliminated unnecessary work. An assembly kit, telephone assistance if required, and full instructions are provided.
A delivery/assembly service. The delivery drivers can build them. For most beds they charge an extra £10, but some, for example, bunks and four posters will cost a little more. Pre booking and nearby parking is essential. Deliveries
Mobility. Dismantled, they store away easily, and can be transported in most cars. They will fit into lifts and taken to places where access is difficult.
Our bunks will last for generations
Responsible use of resources. We are committed to making durable furniture, thus eliminating unnecessary waste. The carefully selected Baltic Pine from Scandinavia and Russia, and prime White Oak from North America are durable, fully sustained and managed timbers. Locally produced furniture is more carbon efficient and good for the economy!
ARE THESE FEATURES REALLY NECESSARY?
Yes! Due to their size, most wooden beds can only delivered partially assembled. Unlike conventional furniture, major joints are not permanently fixed by the maker, and the final construction is left for completion in the home. These joints are vulnerable to the stresses and strains that all beds are inevitably subjected to, and even with careful use they are prone to work loose. You may also discover that when you need to move and rebuild them, they lose much of their original strength. By providing a failsafe means to remedy this, plus a lifelong structural guarantee, we ensure that they are always as good as the day they were sold.
IT IS EASY TO PRODUCE BEDS THAT APPEAR EQUALLY STRONG!
Hidden beneath the mattress is where significant cost savings can be made. Our beds would look identical in a showroom when covered with bedding, regardless of whether or not we had included the above features. We could even guarantee them for ten years against major failures - but never against instability.
Because these features are unseen, many people are unaware of their importance. Other manufacturers take advantage of this and make their beds more cheaply - for example by omitting a substantial centre beam on wider bed bases. This is rather like building a house on shaky foundations.
If you are unable to see what's under the mattress, ask the maker or vendor to show you!

All Litvinoff and Fawcett beds have carried a
Lifetime Structural Guarantee since 1989.
In the unlikely event of failure, they will be repaired or replaced
free of charge. Mattresses are guaranteed for 10 years against
faulty workmanship and components (more details)
GUARANTEE
ALL OF OUR BEDS ARE GUARANTEED AGAINST INSTABILITY!
Regardless of how stylish a bed looks in the showroom or in pictures, if it doesn't stay solid, it is a poor choice. When the lights are out, a sturdy base and comfortable mattress are what one really needs. Our beds are not only strong - they are very strong! Careful design, quality materials and thirty years of conscientious production ensure that they always remain solid.
ALL OF OUR MATTRESSES ARE GUARANTEED FOR TEN YEARS !
They are handmade in our workshops with high quality, natural components, and the more fillings they contain, the longer they stay in good condition. We are almost unique in offering this service. Most of the others - including the widely advertised makers, simply buy their mattresses in.
STRAIGHTFORWARD PRICING AND NO PHONEY ‘SALES'
Straightforward pricing means that you know where you stand and will get what you pay for. So many so called ‘sale prices’ are simply designed to rush you into buying, yet these ‘offers’ are usually renewed upon expiry. Our quality and prices remain constant.
YOU NEEDN’T SPEND A GREAT DEAL!
Even the basic and affordable Platform beds and Yorkton mattresses meet high standards of durability. Our unique guarantee applies throughout the range, and our customers are free to call upon this at any time.
HOW ARE THEY DIFFERENT?

Our beds can be dismantled and rebuilt time and again without weakening. If movement or creaking develops, gentle re-tightening of the bolts restores rigidity. Moreover these hidden fixings do not spoil the appearance of the bed.
We use traditional mortise and tenon joints.** Bolts - never wood screws ensure the joints stay rigid, because when wood screws work loose, they cannot be re-tightened! Nor do we use gadget ironmongery which cannot be repaired or replaced when lost or damaged.
Virtually indestructible pre spaced slats* allow the mattress to ‘breathe’. 1” x 6” (25 X 150 mm) solid timber is much more reliable than the cheap plywood 'sprung' slats, more commonly supplied and which have a tendency to invert or break, leaving a bed unusable.
The centre beam*** prevents:
a) the slats from sagging, b) a tendency to sink into the middle of the bed, and c) transference of movement from a restless partner. It ensures a flat, stable support that helps to prolong the life of the mattress.
